christmas lunch & more tempeh wingz!

how relaxing & wonderful this holiday has been! we hope everyone had a super stellar holiday as well!

took a small break from posting and we pretty much did a lot of vegging out together - it made for such a great holiday, indeed! we had lunch on christmas before heading to dan's parents home - falafel platters complete with roasted garlic hummus, flat bread, tahini sauce , and peppers 'n onions were enjoyed. it was such a delicious lunch before a super fun family filled day. w00t!

for dinner with his family, dan's momma made us a dish with some delicious portobello mushrooms and even made the garlic smashed potatoes (and gravy) vegan so that we could enjoy them, too!
friday morning i made us some potato cakes with some leftover smashed potatoes, portobellos and green scallions. sooooo yummy!

saturday we enjoyed more of Katie's gloriously awesome tempeh wingz. these wingz are one of our absolute favorites. if you haven't tried Katie's recipe yet, we suggest you do - PRONTO! ;) i believe we could eat these wingz every day! so. darn. delicious.

we made up some roasted broccoli & crispy sea salted oven fries to go along with our spicy wingz. such a tasty combination!

well, tonight is soup & bread night so we'll post on that tomorrow. hope everyone is having a rock'n sunday evening! hugs & happyfaces!

How awesome of Dan's mom to make ya'll vegan mashed potatoes and mushrooms! Veg-friendly families are the best!

And you've sold me on those wings, dude. I'm putting the ingredients on my grocery list for this next week.

i wish i would have seen this post about and hour ago.
I had to use up my tempah (which went into a chicken salad) but my friend who went veg not that long ago has been wanting wings and yours look rockin. I guess I will have to get more tempah to try it.
happy new year!

Those wingz do look good! But I think the falafel would be my favorite. :)

Hooray for relaxing holidays! Nice eats, too! :) Falafel would definitely be on my "desert island food list." I made it for party food a few months ago and all my friends keep asking to make more of "those ball thingies." Yay! More falafel converts!

That's so nice of his mother to veganize the recipe for you. I am always so touched when people make that gesture.

That falafel platter sounds like the perfect lunch before a fun family filled day. Who am I kidding, falafel platters make a perfect lunch no matter what time of year it is! This makes me want falafel, and I just so happen to have plenty of garbanzo beans, pita bread, and all the other needed goodies around, I might make some over our long weekend coming up.

I'm so happy to hear you guys had such a fun, relaxing time over the holiday.

come on over and bring some wingz with you? I'm too lazy to whip up my own batch, what can I say?

I swoon over all of your food, all of the time! Yummy falafel and pizza and taties and tempeh creations...! It sounds like your holiday was perfect-relaxing, eating, and spending time with people you love.

By the way, I made your Creamy Corn Chowder recently and loved it. Tim even had seconds and thirds! I did too, come to think of it. Soup!

thanks, VeggieGirl! the wingz were the most scrumptious! i can't wait for your fig blondie recipe too! yay!

we really did, River! leftover potato cakes are sooo yummy! i love making deliciousnesses with leftovers!

thanks, Eddie! :)

i hope you enjoyed the holidays too, aTx! looks like you were cooking up lots of deliciousness, too!

get back with us on the wingz, Bianca! katie's recipe is the best! we used Frank's for our hot sauce. sooooo good! the first time we visited his parents after becoming vegan we ended up just eating salad. for thanksgiving his mom made us a dish and i brought a lot of our food - but this time his momma called ahead to make sure the portobello dish was vegan, and she even bought earth balance for the mashed potatoes - too awesome! dan's dad is still pretty stubborn - he won't touch any of our vegan foods (i think he would if he didn't know they were vegan, but he knows they're vegan if he sees us enjoying them) - which kinda frustrates me. he won't even try cookies or other desserts. grrrrr. but hey, i figure, more for us! :D

next time you get some tempeh Barbara - you totally have to make Katie's wingz!

the falafels were really great too, Ricki! did i tell you i was drooling over your bread pudding?! mmmmmmm!

thanks, Vegetation! feels good to be back, too!

"those ball thingies" - ahahahaa! i love it, Marni! hooray for more falafel converts, indeed! we've gotta keep spreading the chickpea love around! superw00t!

mad about udon - we were delighted his mom took the time to make something vegan for us. i made my heart go squeeeeeeeeee! isn't it the best!?!

thanks, allularpunk! :) the pizza was my fav, too! loaded with all that awesomeness! totally thought of your pizzas of deliciousness while making mine. i still need some make a mexican pizza of glorious sometime soon. mmmmmmm!

a holiday filled with yummy food & family indeed, Lauren! i was happy to hear your holiday was wonderful as well! made me most happyfaced!

you should totally make falafel, Jennifer! make it part of your clean out the cabinets fun! it's sooo easy to make - and so yummy! we use the falafel recipe from VWAV! it's so good!

ahahahaaa - indeed, Celine! i'll bring the wingz if you make booze-filled muffins! ;)

we're so glad you both enjoyed the creamy corn chowder, Amy! that's awesome! hooray for seconds & thirds! thanks for the feedback, too! yay!

we're superexcitedfaced about the new year, Vegan Noodle! thanks for your rock'n holiday treats video - it was so awesome! i'm going to show it to dan at home tonight so he can drool over those cupcakes, too! mmmmmmmmmmmm!

I'll try the wings! It's been on my to-do list. Your photo of them is amazing! I have a co-worker who recently watched a TV show where they made falafel and now he's really excited to try it. I should make him some! :)

that's awesome that your family willingly makes you vegan stuff at the holidays. I have to practically beg my family to let ME make vegan things.
